IDENTIFICATION

What you’re looking at

This patient may look ordinary between movements. The useful clue is motion rather than a permanent face change, so a still glance can miss it.

  • Sudden arm movement
  • Brief neck roll
  • Movement may only last a moment

WHAT TO DO

Reject the patient once the irregular movement is confirmed.

  1. 1

Watch the patient for several seconds.

  2. 2

Confirm that the movement is an involuntary jerk rather than an idle pose.

  3. 3

Use the shutters to reject the patient.
